Short Description:

Overall goal

The humanitarian measures under this grant are financed from the Austrian Foreign Disaster Aid Fund.

Since the earthquake on January 12th a mayor part of the region in and around Haiti's capital Port-au-Prince is destroyed. The local Project Partner "Salesiens de Don Bosco" in Haiti is among the affected of the earthquake but nevertheless is able to provide support to a total of more than 10.000 people.

The overall goal of the intervention is to re-establish adequate living and working conditions for around 10.000 people affected by the earthquake:

For around 4.000 persons affected by the earthquake, the local partner has been coordinating and providing relief (tents, food, water) in IDP camps in the Port-au-Prince area.

For more than 6000 persons (2.000 school children, 4.000 more family members) a program for coming back to a more or less stable daily life will be realized in decentralized areas in the north (Cap Haitien and Fort Liberté) and west (Les Cayes) of the country, through:

1. Provision of schooling for the children.

2. Nutritional support to the families.

3. Support to families by outreach social workers.
