Austrian Development Cooperation

Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) supports countries in Africa, Asia and Central America as well as in South Eastern and Eastern Europe in their sustainable social, economic and democratic development. The Foreign Ministry (FMEIA) plans ADC strategies and programmes. The Austrian Development Agency (ADA), the operational unit of ADC, implements these together with public institutions, non-governmental organisations and enterprises.

What we fund

The Austrian Development Agency (ADA) promotes

  • business partnerships, the implementation of projects and
  • feasibility studies to prepare for projects.Business Partnerships

Business Partnerships

You have an innovative project idea?

You plan to

  • qualify your local staff, suppliers or sales partners,
improve cooperation with local governments and public institutions,
  • assure the quality of locally manufactured products by means of international certificates,
  • contribute to Fair Trade?

These and many other measures can be promoted as part of a business partnership with a non-repayable grant. Funding amounts to up to 50 per cent of direct project costs (not exceeding EUR 200,000), which must total at least EUR 100,000. The term of a business partnership is limited to three years.

Feasibility studies

If you have an idea for a business partnership, but still have many political, economic, legal or technical questions, it is a good idea to conduct a feasibility study. In the course of this, you can develop your business plan in more detail.

ADA supports feasibility studies with up to 50 per cent of the costs, not, however, exceeding EUR 20,000.

Our criteria

ADA is interested in innovative and sustainable projects. To be eligible for funding, your project must meet the following conditions:

  • You are making long-term investments in or importing goods from a developing country.
  • Your activity is based on a business model that is expected to generate turnover and profits.
  • Your project includes flanking measures that contribute both to improving the local social, ecological or economic environment and the success of your company.

The way to your business partnership

If you are interested, please contact the Business Partnership Office at ADA. Our staff will be glad to advise you in a personal interview and help you every step of the way to obtain funding.
