Austrian Development Cooperation

Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) supports countries in Africa, Asia and Central America as well as in South Eastern and Eastern Europe in their sustainable social, economic and democratic development. The Foreign Ministry (FMEIA) plans ADC strategies and programmes. The Austrian Development Agency (ADA), the operational unit of ADC, implements these together with public institutions, non-governmental organisations and enterprises.

EU-cofinancing

The EU cofinancing instrument supports projects by Austrian non-governmental organisations (NGOs) that are cofinanced by the European Commission with additional funding from Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC). Possible assistance can be obtained for all developmental budget lines of the European Commission that aim at improving conditions of life and reducing poverty in developing countries.

The application procedure is subject to the specifications of the European Commission. In any event, the application for ADC funds must be submitted to ADA before applying to the European Commission.

Entitled to apply are Austrian development organisations that are recognised by the European Commission as contractual partners and are prepared to contribute at least five per cent to project costs.

ADC funds may not exceed EUR 500,000. The funding quota varies depending on the European Commission contribution and the project country.
