Projet de formation des enseignants et conseillers pédagogiques de l´enseignement et la formation techniques et professionnels (FECOP-EFTP)
The project supports the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sub sector in Burkina Faso. It will increase the number of capable school teachers in the TVET sub sector in the country and by this enhance the TVET opportunities and employment for the youth. The future teachers will receive a pedagogical training as well as a technical training.
At the end of the project, a total of 264 direct beneficiaries, among them 250 teachers and 14 pedagogic advisors, will be made available in 49 specific fields, among them construction, agriculture, telecommunications, fashion, or hair dressers. After their final exams, the beneficiaries will be taken over by the Government of Burkina Faso and integrated into the normal TVET administration. 315.000 students will profit from the enhanced capacities in the TVET sector in Burkina Faso after the end of the project. Employers can find better educated people in the 49 specific fields.
The project will be implemented by the Ministry of Education and Alphabetization (MENA) in collaboration with the Ecole Normale Supérieure Norbert Zongo de Koudougou (a university specialized in the training of school teachers) and other universities as well as other ministries (i.a. Ministry of Public Administration, Labor and Social Protection; Ministry of Economy, Finance, and Development). The project will be co-financed by the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The Government of Burkina Faso will contribute up to 14.3 % of the global costs of the project.
The project will be implemented in a period of fifty months, ADA is supporting the first two years (24 months) in an initial phase.
A national selection process will be started to identify possible beneficiaries and recruit them. National and regional partner universities will train the beneficiaries in their specific technical fields and will issue certificates after a final exam. Further on, the beneficiaries will receive a pedagogical training including a certification. The beneficiaries will receive a scholarship during their education, which will take place partly in other regional countries.
The project is in line with the policies and strategies of Burkina Faso in the field of the development as well as in the promotion of TVET.
