SEEMO Media Development in Southeast Europe
The South East Europe Media Organisation (SEEMO), an affiliate of the International Press Institute (IPI), is a regional non-governmental, non-profit network of editors, media executives and leading journalists from newspapers, magazines, radio, TV, news agencies and new media in South East Europe. With its committees, SEEMO aims to create a bridge between international media activities and the media developments in the region.
SEEMO with its headquarters in Vienna, was asked by its members to apply for the continuation and extension of the series of dialogue conferences, which were held over the period between 2002 and 2004.
The proposed series of seminars aims at educating the investigative reporter on two levels:
- enhance basic professional standards of journalism (e.g. fair and objective reporting versus commenting - since many journalists still don't differentiate)-
- investigative journalism training (e.g. how to use sources of information, how to check information, presenting unbiased analysis, what to do when confronted with threats, etc).
