Call for Proposals: Intersections- peace, gender and climate in Eastern Africa

Deadline: 15.08.2022, 23:59

The Austrian Development Agency (ADA) invites development organisations as well as other equivalent institutions as defined in Section 3, Subsection 2 of the Austrian Federal Act on Development Cooperation to submit project proposals addressing the intersections of conflict prevention and peacebuilding, gender equality, and environment and climate action.

ADA recognizes the interrelated negative impacts of climate change, conflict and gender inequality. Therefore, this Call for Proposals aims at advancing synergies while eliminating barriers between thematic silos and frameworks for peacebuilding, accelerate gender equality and drive climate action. Apart from aligning to the Regional Strategy’s thematic priorities, examples for guiding questions on how to address the intersections could be the following:

- How to develop the capacities of institutions and civil society organisations in conflict prevention and peacebuilding for effective response to the drivers and impacts of climate change and to address gender inequalities;
- How to promote gender equality through effective and inclusive conflict prevention and peacebuilding, while considering climate change adaptation and/or mitigation in fragile contexts;
- What are the drivers for conflict-sensitive and gender-transformative climate change adaptation and/or mitigation related to transboundary  ntegrated water resource management?

The maximum total amount available for funding is EUR 4.500.000,00.

Project proposals may be submitted for a duration of maximum 48 months. The amount of the contribution requested from ADA must be within the following range (in EUR): 500,000 – 1,500,000.
