On the topic of "Migration & Development/Flight-Asylum-Return", the Austrian Development Agency’s Civil Society International and Humanitarian Aid unit invited Austrian civil society organisations to submit project applications back in 2017.

The aim of the projects is to improve the living conditions of fleeing people and to support the communities that receive refugees and internally displaced persons at the same time. In this way, a bridge is built between humanitarian aid and development cooperation in crisis regions to create better prospects for all people.

The Austrian Development Agency (ADA) is currently supporting six projects with four million euros in Ethiopia, Jordan, Lebanon, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Uganda that serve to provide immediate care for refugees in combination with long-term development measures. The projects deal with water and sanitation, protection against gender-based violence, access to education for people with disabilities, vocational training and food security. They are carried out together with local partner organisations that are particularly familiar with the living situation of the beneficiaries. ADA already supports the projects in a second phase in order to sustainably strengthen people's resilience in long-lasting crises.

At present, there is no possibility to submit further project applications for the thematic priority area Migration & Development.
