Overall goal


Zum bereits 15. Mal veranstaltet der Verein Chiala im Juni 2018 das jährliche Afrika Festival in Graz, das sich mit afrikanischer Kunst, Kultur und Lebensweisen auseinandersetzt und im Zeichen der gesellschaftlichen Teilhabe und Sichtbarmachung von Menschen afrikanischer Herkunft steht. Das Festival versteht sich als Brückenbauer zwischen Österreich und den facettenreichen Realitäten Afrikas. Es trägt dazu bei, ein differenziertes Bild von Afrika und AfrikanerInnen in einem globalen Kontext zu entwickeln, und schafft Dialog- und Begegnungsräume.


Expected results


Direkt werden rund 6000 FestivalbesucherInnen sowie zusätzlich 1000 Personen, die den Veranstaltungen im Vorfeld des Festivals beiwohnen, erreicht. Indirekt werden durch Öffentlichkeitsarbeit, mediale Berichterstattung und Synergien mit anderen sozialen und kulturellen Einrichtungen rund 10.000 Personen erreicht. Durch das Festival wird eine differenzierte öffentliche Wahrnehmung der afrikanischen "Communities" sowie die Sichtbarkeit der Kunst und Kultur lokaler und internationaler KünstlerInnen nachhaltig gefördert. Das Festival dient der differenzierten Berichterstattung über Afrika und die in Österreich lebenden Menschen afrikanischer Herkunft und regt zum Austausch von Menschen unabhängig ihres Geschlechts, Alters und ihrer sozialen und geographischen Herkunft an.


Target group / Beneficiaries


Zielgruppen sind die allgemeine bzw. eine an Kunst und Kultur interessierte Öffentlichkeit, Kinder und Jugendliche, die afrikanischen "Communities“ in Österreich, Kunst- und Kulturschaffende sowie JournalistInnen, MeinungsbildnerInnen und PolitikerInnen. Kooperationen mit etablierten Kulturveranstaltern, entwicklungspolitischen, sozialen, migrantischen und Jugend-Einrichtungen und Akteuren sowie dem Magazin „Fresh – Black Austrian Lifestyle“ finden statt. Zu den Medienpartnerschaften zählen Radio Helsinki – Verein Freies Radio Steiermark, Radio Afrika TV / Wien, Kleine Zeitung, Woche Graz, ORF und Radio Steiermark, BAOBAB TV sowie Radio Soundportal. Die regionale Ausrichtung ist Steiermark/Graz.


Activities


Das Kultur- und Begegnungsprogramm umfasst Live-Musik, Tanz und Show, Workshops für Kinder und Erwachsene, Erlebnisgastronomie, die Fotoausstellung „Der African Community auf der Spur“, Diskursveranstaltungen zu Themen rund um Afrika, Migration und Multikulturalität sowie u.a. Bazar mit afrikanischem Kunsthandwerk, Speakers‘ Corner als Ort der Meinungsbildung, das SchülerInnen-Afrika Quiz und Infostände rund um Afrika. Umfangreiche begleitende Medien- und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit tragen zur Reichweite und Sichtbarkeit des Festivals bei. Im Vorfeld des Festivals organisiert Chiala mit lokalen PartnerInnen ein Kunst- und Ausstellungsprogramm.


Context


Das Projekt wird bei einem Gesamtprojektvolumen von EUR 165.300,- in der beantragten Höhe von Euro 10.000,- (Zweckwidmung) mit einer Laufzeit von 12 Monaten gefördert.
