Das vom Otto Preminger Institut organisierte Internationale Filmfestival Innsbruck (IFFI) ist als international wichtiges Filmereignis bekannt.

Das 17. IFFI zeigt von 3.-8. Juni 2008 in seinem internationalen Wettbewerb Filme aus Afrika, Asien und Lateinamerika. Grundidee ist, die kulturelle Vielfalt dieser Kontinente einem größeren Publikum zugänglich zu machen. Es werden mindestens 40-50 Filme programmiert, für die mehrere Preise vergeben werden. Ein internationaler Wettbewerb mit Erstaufführungen, ein Publikumswettbewerb, eine SchülerInnen-Jury ein Dokumentarfilmwettbewerb, eine Reihe von Begleitveranstaltungen sowie ein Video/DVD-Archiv zur Filmsichtung sind vorgesehen.


2008 wird der Westafrika-Schwerpunkt des SchülerInnenwettbewerbs fortgesetzt. Eine Reihe lateinamerikanischer Filme thematisiert den veränderten Blick junger FilmemacherInnen. Auch die Genderthematik wird verstärkt im Programm zu finden sein, in Kooperation mit Kinovi[sie]on, einem anderen Projekt des Otto Preminger-Instituts, das das Filmschaffen von Frauen in den Mittelpunkt stellt.


Die Tätigkeiten des Projektträgers bilden die Grundlage für zahlreiche andere Aktivitäten der entwicklungspolitischen Filmarbeit in Österreich. Verschiedene andere Akteure/Festivals greifen auf das Know-How des Projektträgers zurück, so werden z.B. die entwicklungspolitischen Filmaktivitäten in Amstetten, Salzburg, Linz, Graz, Kärnten u. Wien in ihrer Programmkonzeption beraten. Durch Auslandskontakte ist eine gute internationale Einbindung der österreichischen entwicklungspolitischen Filmarbeit gewährleistet.

Vorrangige Zielgruppen sind CineastInnen, entwicklungspolitisch Interessierte, Studierende und SchülerInnen sowie die allgemeine Öffentlichkeit.


Das Projekt wird bei einem Gesamtprojektvolumen von EUR 144.500,00 in der Höhe von

EUR 10.000,00 (6,92%) gefördert.

  • Type of Aid – Aid modalities: classifies transfers from the donor to the first recipient of funds such as budget support, core contributions and pooled programmes and funds to CSOs and multilateral organisations, project-type interventions, experts and other technical assistance, scholarships and student costs in donor countries, debt relief, administrative costs and other in-donor expenditures.
  • Purpose/ sector code: classifies the specific area of the recipient’s economic or social structure, funded by a bilateral contribution.
  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries. Transactions are considered tied unless the donor has, at the time of the aid offer, clearly specified a range of countries eligible for procurement which meets the tests for “untied” aid.
