Overall goal


Das Projekt entwickelt ein Modell für eine integrale Umsetzung wirksamer Maßnahmen der Primärgesundheit in Gemeinden mit zunehmendem Auftreten von aktivem Trachom, einer infektiösen Bindehautentzündung, die zu Erblindung führt. Das Modell soll durch die SAFE-Strategie (S – surgery / Lidoperationen, A - Antibiotika, F – facial cleanliness / Gesichtshygiene und E – environment / Verbesserung der Umweltbedingungen) eingeführt werden und in Folge auch für weitere Projekte als Standard dienen. Im vorliegenden Projekt werden insbesondere die Komponenten F und E, in enger Abstimmung mit (von anderen Geldgebern unterstützten) Aktivitäten zu den S- und A-Komponenten, im Rahmen einer ganzheitlichen Umsetzung von Maßnahmen der Primärgesundheit auf Gemeindeebene innerhalb des staatlichen dezentralisierten Gesundheitssystems angesprochen. Durch die Verbesserung von Infrastruktur erhalten mindestens 5.000 Personen Zugang zu Trinkwasser. 192 GesundheitsmitarbeiterInnen und 50 LehrerInnen werden ausgebildet, um die Bevölkerung und insbesondere Schulkinder über den Zusammenhang zwischen Hygieneverhalten und Trachom mit partizipativen Methoden aufzuklären. Die Verbesserung der Basisinfrastruktur und des Hygieneverhaltens trägt dazu bei, auch andere Krankheiten einzudämmen.


Erwartete Resultate:


1: Erleichterter Zugang zu sauberem Wasser für 5000 Personen

2: Gestärkte Bewusstseinsbildung zu sanitärer Grundversorgung und Hygieneverhalten von 12.500 Schulkindern in 25 Schulen

3: Gestärkte Bewusstseinsbildung zu sanitärer Grundversorgung und Hygieneverhalten insbesondere für benachteiligte Gruppen/Gemeinden in 96 Gemeinden

4: Unterstützung von strukturiertem Dialog über Gesundheit als Schlüsselproblem zwischen Bevölkerung, Gesundheitsdienstleistern und anderen relevanten AkteurInnen
