Ziel des Projekts ist es, die Kapazitäten wichtiger Bildungsinstitutionen in der Provinz Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in Pakistan in Bezug auf Katastrophenvorsorge zu stärken.

Das KP Bildungsdepartment ist dabei die zentrale Anlaufstelle, zuständig für die Entwicklung, Umsetzung und Evaluierung effektiver Maßnahmen und Politiken auf Schulebene (Primär- und Sekundärstufe). Weitere Akteure, deren Kapazitäten gestärkt werden sollen, sind Bildungsbehörden und lokale Schulen, die für das Training und die Lehre von 'Disaster Risk Reduction' (DRR) zuständig sind sowie extra-curriculare Aktivitäten und Schulsicherheitsplanung durchführen. Hier soll ein umfassender DRR-Ansatz gefördert werden. Dies beinhaltet:

1) die Integration von DRR in den formalen Lehrplan,

2) die Etablierung einer von Lehrern und Schülern geleiteten Schulsicherheitsplanung um DRR bezogene Aktivtäten zu fördern,

3) die Unterstützung des KP Bildungsdepartments und lokaler Strukturen, um schulbasierte Katastrophenvorsorge (School based disaster preparedness, SBDP) umzusetzen.

Das Projekt sieht den Kapazitätenaufbau der Bildungsinstitutionen vor, um DRR und Schulsicherheitsplanung in die jährlichen 'Schulverbesserungspläne' zu integrieren und Verbindungen mit vorhandenen Ressourcen lokaler Entwicklungsinitiativen herzustellen. Es soll eine Institutionalisierung von schulbasierten Prozessen zur Katastrophenvorsorge auf Provinz- und Bezirksebene erreicht werden. Zusammen mit dem KP Bildungsministerium, UN Agenturen, internationalen NGOs und den anderen DIPECHO Partnern in Pakistan wird ein gemeinsames SBDP Modell entwickelt. Informationsaustausch und Synergieeffekte werden durch Advocacy-Workshops mit weitreichender Beteiligung auf Bezirks-, Provinz- und nationaler Ebene erreicht.

Zielgruppe des Projekts sind Schulkinder und deren Eltern, Lehrpersonal, Angestellte des Bildungsdepartments sowie lokale und zivilgesellschaftliche Organisationen im Projektgebiet.
