Das Afro-Asiatische Institut Graz (AAI) leistet als internationale Drehscheibe der interkulturellen Begegnungen und als Kommunikationszentrum einen aktiven Beitrag zu einem Dialog zwischen Menschen unterschiedlicher Religionen und Kulturen in der Steiermark. Mit seinem Bildungs- und Kulturprogramm verfolgt das AAI Graz aus der Perspektive des Globalen Lernens das Ziel, die Öffentlichkeit bzw. seine Zielgruppen für relevante Themen im Bereich Entwicklungszusammenarbeit, Interkulturalität und Interreligiösität nachhaltig zu sensibilisieren und damit für sein vielschichtiges Publikum einen differenzierten, emotionalen und individuellen Zugang zu diesen Themen zu schaffen. Durch zahlreiche Aktivitäten (Informations- und Diskussionsveranstaltungen, Symposien, Workshops, Lesungen, Ausstellungen, Konzerte, Multikulti-Akademie) erlangen die BesucherInnen neue Einblicke in die Vielfalt der globalen Lebensverhältnisse. Forciert werden soll besonders die Kompetenzerweiterung von MultiplikatorInnen um damit bestmöglich auf Entwicklungen und Anforderungen der heutigen Zeit reagieren zu können. Durch Schulung und Beratung wird gewährleistet, dass Interkulturalität auf inhaltlich kompetente und ansprechende Weise in wichtigen Lebensbereichen wie Kindergarten, Schule und außerschulische Bildung vermittelt wird.

Das Projekt wird bei einem Gesamtprojektvolumen von Euro 663.600 in der Höhe von Euro 180.000.- (26,82 %) gefördert.
