Accelerated Africa Conference (AAC+) 2018
Short Description:
Overall goal
The conference aims to contribute to promoting entrepreneurship skills development and partnership creation, thereby fostering the inclusion of the African diaspora as a developmental drive and encourages South/South and North/South dialogue through digital solutions and partnership creation.
Expected results
1. Young entrepreneurs from the continent and from the diaspora see their capacity / awareness increased through the master classes provided;
2. The representation of the Diaspora as a critical player in developing the African continent is recognized and the EU-Africa dialogue facilitated;
3. A policy guiding/ action plan is successfully developed by young entrepreneurs directly feeding into the Africa/EU High level forum to take concrete action and foster young and diaspora involvement towards reaching the SDGs.
Target group / Beneficiaries
The Conference will bring together roughly 150 aspiring and established entrepreneurs from the diaspora and the African continent as well as representatives from the private sector and government.
Activities
ACC+ will offer master classes targeted to entrepreneurs from the diaspora and the African continent on issues related to business partnership development, digitalization & IT, sectoral positioning, enhanced communication challenging environments, and innovative financial solutions. The emphasis will be on the economic and social potential that the diaspora represents and the role it can play if channeled correctly in achieving the SDGs. A reflection session will also take place to define main challenges encountered today by entrepreneurs evolving in the African context or diaspora / EU based private sector entities aiming at doing business with the African continent. Its purpose will be to elaborate a policy guiding paper / action plan from the youth and the diaspora which will offer concrete solution to political leaders for job creation, local development, migration, etc. through digitalization during the closing ceremony. It will also advocate for a suitable enabling environment to be created to foster North/South, South / South cooperation, socio-economic exchanges and partnership building.
Context
The AAC+ conference will be organized on 17 December 2018 and will then feed into the EU-Africa HLF on 18 December 2018.
