Overall goal


Ziel des Projekts ist der Ausbau der medizinischen Basisversorgung in der Afar-Region im Nordosten Äthiopiens und somit die Verbesserung des Zugangs zur medizinischen Grundversorgung.

Die Afar Region zählt zu den am wenigsten erschlossenen Regionen Äthiopiens. Der Zugang der Bevölkerung zu sozialer Infrastruktur ist nur marginal vorhanden. Im Projekt von Sonne International wird einerseits der personelle Einsatz von insgesamt 20 Gesundheitsbeauftragten in der Region (in den Bezirken Uwwa, Awra und Chifra) fortgeführt und ausgebaut, andererseits wird der Fokus vermehrt auf die medizinische Betreuung von (werdenden) Müttern und deren Neugeborenen und Kindern gerichtet sein. In drei Ortschaften werden so genannte 'Waiting Areas' für werdende Mütter zur Beobachtung von Risikoschwangerschaften und (bei Bedarf) Überführung ins Gynäkologische Krankenhaus (Bezirk Mille) eingerichtet. Weiters ist eine intensive Zusammenarbeit mit der lokalen Regierung und die Vernetzung mit weiteren internationalen NGOs geplant. Über 80.000 BewohnerInnen der beiden Bezirke Uwwa und Awra bilden die Zielgruppe des Projekts.

Erwartete Resultate:

1: Schaffung einer flächendeckenden und nachhaltigen medizinischen Basisversorgung.

2: Aus- und Fortbildung des medizinischen Personals.

3: Aufbau von 3 'Waiting Areas' in den Woredas Uwwa/Awra/Chifra.

4: Verbesserung des allgemeinen Gesundheitszustands der Afar-Bevölkerung durch Impfaktionen und Aufklärungskampagnen.
