Overall goal


Der zentrale Arbeitsbereich von BAOBAB ist die Bibliothek Globales Lernen mit einem Bestand von ca. 7.500 Medien. Die bundesweiten Basisdienstleistungen umfassen Recherche, Beschaffung, Erfassung und Verleih von pädagogischen Materialien für die schulische und außerschulische Bildungsarbeit, die Bereitstellung von Unterrichtshilfen und didaktischen Tipps und Beratung.

Seit Herbst 2009 ist die Bibliothek im ,C3 Centrum für Internationale Entwicklung’ in der Sensengasse (1090 Wien) neu organisiert, wo – gemeinsam mit Frauensolidarität und ÖFSE - jährlich an ca. 210 Öffnungstagen ca. 10.000 BesucherInnen betreut und ca. 22.000 Medien verliehen werden.


Für 2012 bis 2014 planen die C3-Organisationen (ÖFSE, Frauensolidarität, BAOBAB, Paulo Freire Zentrum, Mattersburger Kreis) die Kooperation im Rahmen eines gemeinsamen inhaltlichen Schwerpunkts zu den Themen ,Bildung und Entwicklung’ sowie ,Bildung und Migration’, z.B. im Bereich der Informationsvermittlung und Veranstaltungsdurchführung.


BAOBAB koordiniert den Verbund entwicklungspolitischer Bibliotheken zum Globalen Lernen und ist für die Pflege, Kontrolle und Weiterentwicklung des Online-Bibliothekskatalogs zuständig, in dem der österreichweite Bestand von zehn Bibliotheken erfasst wird.


Die Weltbilder-Medienstelle übernimmt wichtige Aufgaben im Zusammenhang mit entwicklungspolitischer Filmarbeit. Hauptaktivitäten sind Wartung und Aktualisierung von Filmmaterial und Archiven, Produktion und Vertrieb von DVDs zu entwicklungspolitischen Themen (u.a. in der Reihe ,Weltbilder’), Erstellung von didaktischen Begleitmaterialien sowie Öffentlichkeitsarbeit über Infodienste und Internet.


Das Programm wird bei einem Gesamtprogrammvolumen von Euro 697.851,- in der Höhe von Euro 450.000,- (64,48 %) für 3 Jahre gefördert.
