Overall goal


In Papua Neu Guinea sind laut Studien 44% der Kinder zumindest leicht hörgeschädigt, was zu Kommunikationsschwierigkeiten, schlechten schulischen Leistungen und Motivationsverlust führt. Zur Unterstützung des "Nationalen Bildungsplan für Menschen mit Behinderung 2004-2008", in Partnerschaft mit "Callan Service for Disabled Persons" und in Kooperation mit der Regierung Papua Neu Guineas zielt dieses Projekt auf die Schaffung eines Netzwerkes von 20 Ressourcezentren für Kinder mit Gehörbeeinträchtigung (DERUs) ab. Das Projekt knüpft hier an die bereits vorhandene landesweite Struktur der bereits bestehenden Ressourcezentren für Menschen mit Behinderung an.


Maßnahmen:

Mit den DERUs wird ein landesweites Netzwerk von 20 Förderungszentren in 13 Provinzen geschaffen, in denen hörgeschädigte Kinder gefördert und unterrichtet werden. Diese sind im Bereich Vorbeugung und Früherkennung von Hörschäden, Förderung und Rehabilitation von Kindern mit Hörbeeinträchtigungen aktiv. Jedes Zentrum erhält einen Sonderpädagogen und zusätzlich soll in jeder Provinz ein Gemeinde-Gesundheitsbeauftragter tätig sein.


Zu den Hauptaktivitäten zählen Personalentwicklung im Bildungs- und Gesundheitsversorgung, sowie auf Bewusstseinsbildung in der Bevölkerung im Bereich Vorbeugung und Behandlungsmöglichkeiten von Hörschäden und Förderungsmöglichkeiten von Kindern mit Hörbeeinträchtigungen.


Erwartete Resultate:

- 6.000 Lehrer werden in der Vorbeugung von Gehörlosigkeit geschult

- 100.000 Kinder werden von Reihenuntersuchungen und Früherkennungsprogrammen profitieren

- 16.000 Kinder werden davor bewahrt auf Grund ihrer Gehörlosigkeit die Schule abbrechen zu müssen.

- Mindestens 500 Kinder mit Hörbeeinträchtigung bekommen Zugang zu Primärbildung.
