Overall goal


Der Kulturverein Bindu-Art führt in Südindien ein umfassendes Sozial- und Kulturprojekt mit Leprakranken durch. In Indien sind ca. 2 Mio Menschen akut von Lepra betroffen. Auch jene Menschen, die geheilt werden können, zählen weiterhin zu den "Unberührbaren" und leben am Rand der Gesellschaft. Auf Initiative des Fotografen Werner Dornik hat der Kulturverein Bindu-Art die Bindu-Art-School aufgebaut, wo Leprakranke in Malerei unterricht werden und ihre Lebenserfahrungen künstlerisch aufarbeiten. Die Einnahmen aus dem Bilderverkauf dienen der weiteren Finanzierung der Schule. Werner Dornik hat in den vergangenen Jahren einige Ausstellungs- bzw. Videoprojekte durchgeführt, in denen er innovative und experimentelle Formen im Zugang zu Kunst und Kultur bzw. Alltagsleben in Indien bewiesen hat (z. B. The Search Within - ein Ausstellungsprojekt mit österreichischen und indischen KünstlerInnen; The Journey from Technic to Techno - ein Videoprojekt).

2006 organisiert der Kulturverein Bindu-Art Ausstellungen mit Bildern der Bindu-Art-School in Österreich. Das Gesamtprojekt umfasst die Präsentation der Bilder in multimedial konzipierten Ausstellungen in Österreich sowie Maßnahmen der Öffentlichkeitsarbeit (Katalog, Projekt-Website, Buch-, Internet- und Fernsehdokumentation). Weiters ist ein Bildungsangebot für Schulen (Durchführung von Workshops, Ausstellungen in Schulen) geplant. Aus OEZA-Mitteln gefördert wird die Produktion des Katalogs für die Bilder der Bindu-Art-School.

Das Projekt richtet sich an eine breite kulturell interessierte Öffentlichkeit sowie an entwicklungspolitisch Interessierte.


Das Projekt wird bei einem Gesamtprojektvolumen von EUR 12.000,00 in der Höhe von

EUR 6.000,00 (50 %) gefördert.

  • Type of Aid – Aid modalities: classifies transfers from the donor to the first recipient of funds such as budget support, core contributions and pooled programmes and funds to CSOs and multilateral organisations, project-type interventions, experts and other technical assistance, scholarships and student costs in donor countries, debt relief, administrative costs and other in-donor expenditures.
  • Purpose/ sector code: classifies the specific area of the recipient’s economic or social structure, funded by a bilateral contribution.
  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries. Transactions are considered tied unless the donor has, at the time of the aid offer, clearly specified a range of countries eligible for procurement which meets the tests for “untied” aid.
