Das Buch "Die kleinen Menschen, die große Lasten tragen" von Robert Lessmann möchte Bewusstsein schaffen für die Problematik der Arbeits- und Lebensbedingungen von Lastenträgern im Himalaya, in den Anden und am Kilimanjaro.


Das Buch beleuchtet damit einen Aspekt des Themas Tourismus und Entwicklung. Das Arbeitsfeld des Trekking-Tourismus erlangt in vielen Bergregionen in Entwicklungsländern zunehmende Bedeutung und wird für immer mehr Menschen in diesen Regionen zur Hauptverdienstquelle. Für die Lastenträger, die für einzelne Trekker, organisierte Gruppen oder Lodges arbeiten, bedeutet es oft Schwerstarbeit unter unangemessenen Bedingungen.


Das Buch erscheint begleitend zur gleichnamigen Ausstellung der Südwind Agentur, die von 18. April bis 31. Oktober 2008 in Landeck in Tirol zu sehen ist. Die zentrale Fotoausstellung wird von Informationsmaßnahmen begleitet.


Das Buch enthält Beiträge von Robert Lessmann, Kurt Luger, Kristina Erhard, Darek Wylezol sowie der International Porters Protection Group (IPPG), die für die Verbesserung der Bedingungen für Berg-Träger in der Tourismusindustrie weltweit arbeitet.


Das Buch erscheint im Mai 2008 im Mandelbaum Verlag in einer Auflage von 1.600 Stück. Es hat 120 Seiten und enthält 60 Farbfotografien.


Das Projekt wird bei einem Gesamtprojektvolumen von EUR 16.872,00 in der Höhe von EUR 5.000,00 (29,63%) gefördert.

  • Type of Aid – Aid modalities: classifies transfers from the donor to the first recipient of funds such as budget support, core contributions and pooled programmes and funds to CSOs and multilateral organisations, project-type interventions, experts and other technical assistance, scholarships and student costs in donor countries, debt relief, administrative costs and other in-donor expenditures.
  • Purpose/ sector code: classifies the specific area of the recipient’s economic or social structure, funded by a bilateral contribution.
  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries. Transactions are considered tied unless the donor has, at the time of the aid offer, clearly specified a range of countries eligible for procurement which meets the tests for “untied” aid.
