Overall goal


In Indonesien wird derzeit eine Kampagne zur Erhöhung der Kapazitäten der Papierindustrie durchgeführt. Sumatras Regenwälder sind der Papierindustrie bereits zum Opfer gefallen, was große soziale Konflikte, Zerstörung des Lebensraums und Verarmung der angestammten Bevölkerung ausgelöst hat. Nun richtet sich nun das Augenmerk der Papierindustrie auf das noch zum großen Teil von Regenwald bedeckte Südkalimantan (Borneo).

CAPPA (Community Alliance for Pulp Paper Advocacy) und YKR (Yayasan Keadilan Rakyat) wehrten sich bereits gegen die Zerstörung der Regenwälder in Sumatra und haben große Erfahrung in der Bewusstseinsbildung und in der Schulung der betroffenen Bewohner, was die bewusstseinsbildenden Maßnahmen und die politischen und juristischen Möglichkeiten betrifft, die Ausbreitung der Papierindustrie zu behindern.


Das Ziel des von GLOBAL 2000 und CAPPA beantragten Projektteils ist es, CAPPA und YKR einen Beitrag für die nötigen Werkzeuge zur Verfügung zu stellen, in den Gemeinden Südkalimantans die Bewusstseinsbildung und das Advocacy möglichst effizient umzusetzen. CAPPA möchte dazu ausgewählten Vertretern der Gemeinden die Auswirkungen der Papierindustrie in Sumatra im Rahmen einer Studienreise vor Augen führen und sie mit den Gemeindevertretern in Sumatra zusammenführen, von deren Erfahrungen sie lernen werden. Weiter Instrumente des Projektes sind diverse Publikationen, eine Postkartenkampagne, sowie Seminare, die den Projektverlauf begleiten werden.
