Overall goal


Das Ziel des Projekts von Caritas Mariana ist der Ausbau des Caritas Mariana Medical Centre und der Aufbau von zwei Apotheken, durch welche die wirtschaftliche Nachhaltigkeit des Medical Centre möglich wird. Caritas Mariana hat dieses Medical Center mit Unterstützung der OEZA errichtet und im August 2006 eröffnet. Es bietet medizinische Versorgung unter anderem für die ärmste Bevölkerung zu leistbaren Preisen an. Nun sollen zwei Apotheken in Betrieb genommen werden - eine Einzelhandelsapotheke im Zentrum der Stadt Thika und eine Großhandelsapotheke in Madaraka, einem gewerblich genutzten Gebiet am Stadtrand von Thika - und damit einen Beitrag zur Deckung der Ausgaben für das Medical Centre zu leisten. Laut Vorrecherchen wird der Profit der beiden Apotheken 25% der Ausgaben des Medical Centres decken können. Die Einzelhandelsapotheke in Thika wird auch ein Gesundheitszentrum anbieten. Das bedeutet, dass ein Arzt für die Diagnose der Krankheit und das Verschreiben von Medikamenten in der Apotheke konsultiert werden kann. Die Apotheke in Madaraka ist hauptsächlich eine Großhandelsapotheke. Es werden Medikamente an Apotheken und Spitäler der Region verkauft. Zusätzlich wird es ein kleines Verkaufsgeschäft für den Einzelhandelsverkauf geben.


Hauptaktivitäten des Projekts sind:

- die Errichtung, Ausstattung und Personalaufnahme für 2 Apotheken

- Maßnahmen zur Erhöhung der Einnahmen aus dem Medical Centre (zusätzliche Angebote wie Zahnbehandlung)

- Installation einer neuen Energieversorgung für das Medical Centre

- Aufklärung, Mobilisierung und Networking mit lokalen Behörden, Ministerien etc.

- Abhalten von Workshops und mobilen medical camps zur medizinischen Behandlung der Bevölkerung in entlegenderen Gebieten.
