The Trust Fund in Support of Action to Eliminate Violence Against Women was established by a General Assembly resolution in 1996, as a key mechanism to support the growing movement around the world to eliminate gender-based violence. The Trust Fund is a UN interagency mechanism, administered by UNIFEM, which identifies and provides technical and financial support to innovative and catalytic projects. The Trust Fund generates lessons and good practices that inform larger programmes of UNIFEM, and its civil society, government, and United Nations partners at the national regional and global levels. Since the Trust Fund began its operations, it has awarded $8.3 million in grants to 175 initiatives in 96 countries.

The ADC funds the JPO, Ms. Angelika Kartusch, for a period of two years to work for the Trust Fund in Support of Action to Eliminate Violence Against Women.
