Overall goal


Bereits seit 1992 kombiniert der Mattersburger Kreis für Entwicklungspolitik die Durchführung einer entwicklungspolitischen Ringvorlesung an der Universität Wien mit der Herausgabe eines Readers in Buchform. Der Erfolg des Vorhabens ermöglichte die Ausweitung des Angebotes auf andere Universitätsstandorte. Die Maßnahme "Entwicklungspolitische wissenschaftliche Öffentlichkeitsarbeit gilt seit 2000 als Kernfunktion. Der Mattersburger Kreis führt das Projekt seit 2005 in Kooperation mit dem Paulo Freire Zentrum durch.


Im Sommersemester 2007 wird die Ringvorlesung "Krieg an den Rändern" unter der Leitung von Joachim Becker und Gerald Hödl wiederholt. Die zentralen Fragestellungen sind politischer und ökonomischer Natur, jeweils mit historischer Perspektive. Beispielsweise werden in den Vorträgen "Schattenglobalisierung und Kriege" und "Frauen und Krieg" thematisiert. Die Vorlesungen werden gut besucht. Die Möglichkeit, dass zukünftige Entscheidungsträger entwicklungspolitisch sensibilisiert werden, ist hoch. Die hohe Qualität der Ringvorlesung und des Readers wird international beachtet. Deswegen gelingt es dem Projektträger anerkannte ausländische Expertinnen zur Mitarbeit zu gewinnen. Es wird neben der Ringvorlesung in Wien auch eine an der Grazer Universität angeboten.


Das Projekt wird bei einem Gesamtprojektvolumen von EUR 55.725,00 in der Höhe von EUR 42.500,00 (76,27%) gefördert.

  • Type of Aid – Aid modalities: classifies transfers from the donor to the first recipient of funds such as budget support, core contributions and pooled programmes and funds to CSOs and multilateral organisations, project-type interventions, experts and other technical assistance, scholarships and student costs in donor countries, debt relief, administrative costs and other in-donor expenditures.

  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries. Transactions are considered tied unless the donor has, at the time of the aid offer, clearly specified a range of countries eligible for procurement which meets the tests for “untied” aid.
