Short Description:

Overall goal


Die Österreichische Orient Gesellschaft Hammer-Purgstall (ÖOG) bietet umfangreiche Informationen zum Islamischen Orient und damit zu einer Brennpunktregion der Weltgeschichte an, die aktuell im Blickpunkt steht. Durch ein umfassendes Angebot an Vorlesungen zur Orient- und Islamkunde, Fachgesprächen, Diskussionsveranstaltungen sowie themenspezifischen Fachseminaren und (Länder-)Symposien zu Wirtschaft, Politik, Umwelt und Gesellschaft im Islamischen Orient sollen gegenwärtige Entwicklungen aufgezeigt und globale Zusammenhänge dieser Region vermittelt und verstanden werden.


Expected results


Rund 1.500 Personen / MultiplikatorInnen besuchen die mind. 25 Veranstaltungen und nehmen aktiv an Diskussionen teil.

6 Jour-fixe Veranstaltungen 'Nahost Aktuell' sowie 4 Jour-fixe Veranstaltungen 'Kulturen im Dialog' finden statt.

Medienpartnerschaften werden weitergeführt (Die Furche, Der Standard, Kleine Zeitung, Tiroler Tageszeitung, Ö1).

6-8 Nennungen bzw. Berichte in den Medien direkt zu Veranstaltungen der ÖOG.

 


Target group / Beneficiaries


Zu den Zielgruppen zählen die allgemeine interessierte Öffentlichkeit sowie Personen und Institutionen, die bereits über ein breites Grundwissen verfügen und ihr Wissen weiter vertiefen möchten. Die Maßnahmen des Projektes sollen darüber hinaus eine Plattform zum Wissensaustausch zwischen in- und ausländischen ExpertInnen, WissenschaftlerInnen sowie StudentInnen bieten.

Die ÖOG ist eingebunden in ein überregionales Netwerk von islam- und orientkundlichen Institutionen im In- uns Ausland. Zu den Partnern gehören insbesondere: OIIP, BMEIA, IFK, Universitätsinstitute (Orientalistik, Geographie, Rechtsphilosophie), ÖAW (Sozialanthropologie, Iranistik), weitere europäische und außereuropäische Universitätsinstitute, Diplomatische Akademie, Forschungsinstitute und Medien.


Activities


Die Maßnahmen umfassen Vorträge und Vorlesungen, Länder- und Regionalsymposien, zwei Reihen Jour Fixe Aktuell, Seminare sowie begleitende Medienarbeit. Schwerpunktthema 2016 ist der Islam und Europa. Themen rund um den 'Arabischen Frühling', politische und wirtschaftliche Machtkonstellationen und ihre Auswirkungen auf die EU, politische Unsicherheit in der islamischen Welt, Flüchtlingsthematik, aber auch Themen wie der 'Islamische Staat' und Terrorismus werden behandelt. Die Fachseminare thematisieren die Islamische Wirtschaftspolitik, die Kurdenfrage, sowie islamistische Strömungen. Die Ländersymposien 2016 fokussieren sich auf den Iran sowie auf Ägypten. International anerkannte ExpertInnen fungieren als Vortragende.

Das Projekt wird bei einem Gesamtprojektvolumen von Euro 157.000 mit Euro 60.000 (38,21%) gefördert.
