Overall goal


Das Vorhaben von Liebherr GAK wird in der Stadt Galle, in einem am stärksten vom Tsunami betroffenen Gebiet an der Südküste Sri Landas umgesetzt. Das Hauptziel ist die Schaffung von Infrastrukturmaßnahme im Sport- und Freizeitbereich für Kinder und Jugendliche als wichtige notwendige Ergänzung zu bereits anderen geplanten Projektinitiativen in den Bereichen Wohnen, Bildung und Gesundheitsversorgung. Die Initiative stellt einen wichtigen Beitrag gegen die Traumatisierung der Jugendlichen in der Region dar.


Der erste Bereich der Infrastrukturmaßnahme betrifft das Zahira College, welches von rund 3.000 Schülerinnen und Schülern besucht wird. Die Errichtung nachfolgend angeführter Einrichtungen ist geplant:

- eine normgerechte Fußballanlage

- Leichtathletikanlagen für Burschen und Mädchen

- ein Kabinentrakt für alle Nachwuchssportler

- allenfalls eine kleine Zusehertribüne

- div. weitere Sporteinrichtungen


Der zweite Bereich der Infrastrukturmaßnahmen wird in Jayawardana/Dangedara, einem der bevölkerungsreichsten Bezirke der Stadt Galle, durchgeführt. Folgende Einrichtungen werden im Rahmen des Projektes errichtet:

- eine Fußballnachwuchsanlage

- ein Volleyballplatz für Burschen und Mädchen

- eine Leichtathletikanlage für Burschen und Mädchen

- diverse weitere Sporteinrichtungen


Mit diesen Sport- und Freizeiteinrichtungen soll ein Meilenstein zum Aufbau gesellschaftlicher und baulicher Strukturen und damit auch für die sozio-kulturelle Entwicklung der Gesellschaft und insbesondere für die heranwachsende junge - nach der Flutkatastrophe schwer traumatisierte Bevölkerung - gesetzt werden.

  • Type of Aid – Aid modalities: classifies transfers from the donor to the first recipient of funds such as budget support, core contributions and pooled programmes and funds to CSOs and multilateral organisations, project-type interventions, experts and other technical assistance, scholarships and student costs in donor countries, debt relief, administrative costs and other in-donor expenditures.
  • Purpose/ sector code: classifies the specific area of the recipient’s economic or social structure, funded by a bilateral contribution.
  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries. Transactions are considered tied unless the donor has, at the time of the aid offer, clearly specified a range of countries eligible for procurement which meets the tests for “untied” aid.
