Overall goal


Im Rahmen des EZA-Projektes 2319-03/2003 wurde die Einreichtung einer zweisprachigen Grundschule (Bau des Gebäudes, Ausbildung der Lehrer) in Santiago Atitlán, dem Hauptort im Siedlungsgebiet der Tzútujiiles, durch die "Asociacion La Voz de Atitlán" (Radio Atitlán) gefördert.

Nachdem so eine optimale Infrastruktur zur Alphabetisierung vorhanden ist, soll durch die Realisierung des gegenständlichen Projektes eine minimale medizinische Grundversorgung der Kinder und schwangeren Frauen sichergestellt werden. Die von der Regierung angebotenen Gesundheitseinrichtungen sind nicht flächendeckend - Santiago am Atitlansee hat 45.000 - 50.000 Einwohner und ein einziges kleines Gesundheitszentrum.

Gespräche mit der Staatlichen Universität ergaben, dass die medizinische Versorgung im Rahmen eines betreuten Praktikums kostenlos möglich wäre. Die Bereitstellung der nötigen Medikamente bzw. Materialien könnte über Unicef bzw. dem Internat. Roten Kreuz erfolgen.

Geplante Maßnahmen:

# Ausbau von zwei Räumen, die Radio Atitlán zur Verfügung stellt

# Errichtung von Sanitäreinheiten für Personal und Patienten

# Einrichtung für eine Allgemeinmedizinische Praxis und Zahnarztpraxis inklusive Autoclav

# Ausbildung von zwei bis vier Frauen zu Gesundheitshelferinnen für Gesundheitsvorsorge, Schwangerenbetreuung, Hygiene und Anwendung von Hausmittel (Zubereitung von Tees und einfach Diäten bei Durchfallserkrankungen, Verabreichung von Wickel, Zahnhygiene)

# Errichtung einer Trinkwasseraufbereitungsanlage für den zahnärztliche Versorgung

# Die Übernahme der Lohnkosten für zwei Helferinnen für ein Jahr
