Liechtenstein.


Torrential rainfall hit Serbia in mid-May 2014, triggering enormous floods and landslides. This natural disaster has been recorded as the biggest in the past 120 years, affecting around 1,6 million people and causing considerable damage to homes, livelihoods and infrastructure, leaving hundreds of thousands of people without water and electricity.

Considering that mayor flood prone and highly populated municipalities along the Great Morava River were severely hit and heavily damaged. The Austrian Red Cross together with its partner, the Red Cross of Serbia, developed the Great Morava river early recovery and resilience project. The main aim of the project is to support 2.000 flood-affected and most vulnerable families in Požarevac and Svilajnac with one-off unconditional cash assistance and house repair kits in order to meet their basic shelter and livelihood needs. Additionally the project will support the municipalities of Požarevac and Svilajnac in the field of disaster preparedness to better cope with the consequences of recent and future floods.

  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries. Transactions are considered tied unless the donor has, at the time of the aid offer, clearly specified a range of countries eligible for procurement which meets the tests for “untied” aid.
