Overall goal


Ende der 1970er Jahre wurde auf Initiative und Drängen Studierender und mit tatkräftiger Unterstützung der Österreichischen Hochschülerschaft der "Mattersburger Kreis" gegründet. Es wurden u.a. Publikationsreihen gegründet, um Fragen der Entwicklung und Unterentwicklung einem breiteren Kreis Interessierter nahe zu bringen. Ziel dieses Projektes ist die Publikation und Verbreitung des Buches: "Historische Geographien, verräumlichte Geschichte: Ungleiche Entwicklung und Verstädterung in Lateinamerika" von Christof Parnreiter. Inhaltlich beschäftigt sich dieses Werk mit dem Verständnis für Verstädterungsprozesse und ihren quantitativen sowie qualitativen Dimensionen.


Megastädte werden in der Literatur (Wissenschaft, Populärwissenschaft, Unterrichtsmaterialien, Medien) vielfach als eine Ursache von Unterentwicklung dargestellt. Die Publikation greift dieses Thema fokussiert auf, und bietet dazu wirtschaftliche, soziale und kulturelle Fragestellungen. Somit wird auch das Verständnis bezüglich globaler Zusammenhänge gefördert. Zielgruppe dieses Publikationsprojektes sind EntscheidungsträgerInnen und MultiplikatorInnen der Entwicklungspolitik, EntwicklungsforscherInnen aller Disziplinen sowie an Fragestellungen der historischen Geographie interessierte Personen. Wesentlicher Kooperationspartner des Projektes ist der renommierte Franz Steiner Verlag, Stuttgart, der das Werk unter der Reihe "Sozialgeographische Bibliothek" herausbringen wird.


Es wird um eine Förderung aus OEZA Mitteln in der Höhe von Euro 2.050,00 (20,81 % des Gesamtprojektvolumens) angesucht.

  • Type of Aid – Aid modalities: classifies transfers from the donor to the first recipient of funds such as budget support, core contributions and pooled programmes and funds to CSOs and multilateral organisations, project-type interventions, experts and other technical assistance, scholarships and student costs in donor countries, debt relief, administrative costs and other in-donor expenditures.

  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries. Transactions are considered tied unless the donor has, at the time of the aid offer, clearly specified a range of countries eligible for procurement which meets the tests for “untied” aid.
