Overall goal


Ziel des Projektes ist es, die Einwohner des im schwer zugänglichen Hochland Äthiopiens gelegen Distrikts Derra über HIV-Risiken und Vorsorgemöglichkeiten aufzuklären, die staatlichen Gesundheitseinrichtungen beim Kampf gegen die weitere Verbreitung von HIV/AIDS zu unterstützen sowie sozio-ökonomische Auswirkungen abzuschwächen. Zielgruppe ist die gesamte Bevölkerung des Distrikts, schwerpunktmäßig vor allem Jugendliche und Frauen.

Das Projektprogramm besteht im Wesentlichen aus zwei Komponenten: Vorsorge und Betreuung. Geplant sind zahlreiche Trainings/Schulungen für im staatlichen Gesundheitswesen arbeitende Personen und Hebammen, AIDS-Tests auf freiwilliger Basis, freie Vergabe von Kondomen und Medikamenten, Unterstützung von Anti-AIDS-Clubs, Durchführung von Massenveranstaltungen zur Aufklärung der Bevölkerung sowie Hausbetreuung von bereits erkrankten Menschen, Unterstützung beim Aufbau einer eigenen Existenz für Infizierte und Kranke sowie Unterstützung von AIDS-Waisen.

Erwartete Resultate

1. Die Aufklärungsrate der Bevölkerung über HIV-Risiken und Vorsorge durch verschiedene Aktivitäten s.u. soll Ende 2008 60 % betragen. Sowohl vor Beginn als auch am Ende der Projektlaufzeit werden Evaluierungsstudien von Menschen für Menschen durchgeführt

2. Die Verbreitung des Virus soll eingedämmt werden. Freiwillige Tests können als Indikator für den Erfolg des Projekts in diesem Teilbereich betrachtet werden. Zielvorgabe ist es bis Ende 2008 3.600 Menschen auf freiwilliger Basis zu testen

3. Prävention gegen vertikale Übertragung von HIV mittels Aufklärung, Schulung von 40 Hebammen und Vergabe von Babyersatznahrung an 30 Mütter

4. Stigmatisierung und Ausgrenzung HIV-Infizierter Menschen und Tabuisierung des Themas AIDS sollen beendet werden.

5. Sozio-ökonomische Folgeprobleme von AIDS-Erkrankungen sollen bekämpft werden. Im Distrikt Derra sollen über 100 Kranke bzw. 140 Waisen im Projekt-Zeitraum 2008 von den Massnahmen von Menschen für Menschen profitieren.

  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries. Transactions are considered tied unless the donor has, at the time of the aid offer, clearly specified a range of countries eligible for procurement which meets the tests for “untied” aid.
