Overall goal


Eines der Zielgebiete der OEZA in Namibia, die Distriktstadt Mariental, wurde nach heftigen Niederschlägen und einer damit zusammenhängenden Notöffnung des Hardap Damms überschwemmt. Die Schäden wurden von offizieller Seite mit 130 Millionen Namibia Dollar (18,2 Millionen Euro) beziffert.

Von der Überflutung betroffen sind auch Schulkinder und deren Familien in den sozial schwächeren Schichten, mit denen die lokale Partnerorganisation "The Bridge" im Rahmen des OEZA-Projektes "Child Justice Hardap Region" arbeitet. Durch die Überschwemmungen wurden für Hunderte von Schulkindern Schulbücher, Schuluniformen, Schuhe und Taschen unbrauchbar gemacht. Diese Güter stellen für die Familien der Betroffenen erhebliche Ausgaben dar, die nicht mehr als einmal pro Jahr zu leisten sind.

Das Projekt zielt auf die Wiederherstellung der schulischen Ausstattung für 500 geschädigte Kinder ab und leistet - indirekt - einen Beitrag zur Projektarbeit des Partners - nämlich der Arbeit im Bereich Jugendstrafgesetzgebung in Namibia.
