Contract partner: LIGHT FOR THE WORLD International - Organisation for inclusive development/Organisation für inklusive Entwicklungszusammenarbeit Country: Bosnien und Herzegowina Funding amount: € 100.000,00 Project start: 01.01.2014 End: 31.10.2015

Short Description:

Overall goal

Addendum to: ADC Contract No. 2754-02/1014.

Originally, the project has aimed to contribute to improving the living conditions and economic recovery of 120 families in up to five flood-affected rural municipalities, namely in:

Sekovici, – Republika Srpska

Modrica – Republika Srpska

Lopare - Republika Srpska

Žepce – Federation BiH, Zenica-Doboj Canton

Kladanj - Feberation BiH, Tuzla Canton

Originally, the project has aimed to enable these 120 vulnerable households to return to normal life through sustainable berry production, by providing:

a) high quality seedlings and technical support for the berry production and

b) a secured market that assures a sustainable income for recovery.

In mobile berry collection points the berries are being professionally handed over to the final buyer Natural Food LTD who has committed to buying all berries produced within the project, providing the families with a secured minimum income of 3.600 Euro per year.

With the additional funding, it will now be possible to provide additional 450.000 seedlings for berries or vegetables to an additional 54 producers . This means that each new producer can receive and plant around 8,250 seedlings of berries or vegetables. This means that an additional number of farmering households who have greenhouses or uncontaminated soil can benefit from this additional funding.

The total target group thus increases from 120 to 176 vulnerable households (or from approx. 480 to approx. 700 direct beneficiaries).
