Overall goal


Übergeordnetes Ziel des Projekts ist Armutsreduzierung durch Hebung des sozioökonomischen Standards der ländlichen Bevölkerung, insbesondere die Verbesserung der Lebensqualität von Frauen, sozial benachteiligten Gruppen (Kastenlose, ethnische Minderheiten) im Sankhuwa Sabha Distrikt im Nordosten Nepals. 75% der Bevölkerung des Distriktes lebt unter der Armutsgrenze. Damit verbunden ist der schlechte gesundheitliche Zustand der Bevölkerung sowie eine hohe Kindersterblichkeitsrate. Frauen befinden sich in einer niedrigen benachteiligten gesellschaftlichen Position und sind von Entscheidungsprozessen weitgehend ausgeschlossen. Bei dem vorliegenden Projekt handelt es sich um das Nachfolgeprojekt von Sustainable Rural Livelihood Project Nepal (2002 - 2005), der Schwerpunkt liegt auf der Konsolidierung der Resultate der vorangegangenen Projektphase.


Zielgruppe sind rund 11.000 Personen aus marginalisierten und benachteiligten Bevölkerungsgruppen (rund 1800 Familien).


Projektziel ist die Stabilisierung und Verbesserung der Lebensverhältnisse der Zielgruppe durch die Schaffung nachhaltiger alternativer Einkommensmöglichkeiten.


Die Hauptaktivitäten des Projektes bestehen aus:

- Ausbildung und Capacity Development

- Schaffung alternativer nachhaltiger Einkommensquellen

- Verbesserung der Gesundheits- und Hygienesitation

- Verbesserung der infrastrukturellen Einrichtungen

- Institutionalisierung von Frauen-Selbsthilfegruppen


Wichtig ist, dass die Frauengruppen auch über den Projektzeitraum hinaus bestehen und die Aktivitäten von der Zielgruppe selbständig weitergeführt werden. Deshalb sind die Komponenten Capacity Building und Institutionalisierung der Frauenselbsthilfegruppen integraler Bestandteil des Projektes.
