Der Regisseur Andreas Gruber, international bekannt durch seinen Film "Hasenjagd", hat sich in Spielfilmen und ORF-Dokumentationen immer wieder mit sozialkritischen Themen befasst. Zuletzt näherte er sich in "Welcome Home" auf satirische Weise dem Thema Schubhaft.

Das neue Filmprojekt widmet sich Grundfragen der Globalisierung, die anhand der drei Produkte Kaffee, Milch und Zucker analysiert werden. Das Kernprojekt umfasst die Erstellung einer 60-minütigen Dokumentation. Zusätzlich werden aus dem Filmmaterial in einem Modulsystem aufeinander abgestimmte Kurzfilme produziert, die jeweils einzelne Aspekte der Gesamtproblematik aufzeigen und zur Verwendung in der (entwicklungspolitischen) Bildungs- und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit zur Verfügung stehen.

Das Filmprojekt setzt sich zum Ziel, die Annahmen, dass die Globalisierung für den/die Einzelne/n zu komplex und nicht durchschaubar sei und es keine Alternative zum totalen Markt gäbe, aufzubrechen. Alternativen zur vorherrschenden Form der wirtschaftlichen Globalisierung und Handlungsoptionen sollen aufgezeigt werden.

Der Film wendet sich an Erwachsene und Jugendliche und wird im Fernsehen, in der Bildungsarbeit und in Kinos zum Einsatz kommen.

Das Vorhaben wurde mit der Weltbilder Medienstelle Baobab abgesprochen, weiters gibt es Kontakte mit Fairtrade und den österr. Rübenbauern.

Das Projekt wird bei einem Gesamtprojektvolumen von EUR 84.200,00 in der Höhe von

EUR 10.000,00 (11,88%) für eine 2-jährige Laufzeit gefördert.
