Das 14. KASUMAMA Afrika Festival im Juli 2014 in Moorbad Harbach (Waldviertel) bietet an 5 Tagen ein vielfältiges Kunst-, Kultur- und Begegnungsprogramm. Durch die unterschiedlichen Zugangsweisen über Musik, bildende Kunst, Film, Theater und Kulinarik werden verschiedene Zielgruppen angesprochen. Damit wird eine breite Öffentlichkeit von kulturell Interessierten, Afrika-LiebhaberInnen, entwicklungspolitisch engagierten Menschen, Familien mit Kindern und die regionale Bevölkerung involviert. Mit dem Festival wird der interkulturelle Dialog im ländlichen Raum gefördert, die gelungene Vernetzung und vielfältigen Kooperationen in der Region schaffen nachhaltige Synergien.

Die direkte Begegnung mit Kulturschaffenden aus Afrika soll Verständnis und Interesse für andere Kulturen wecken und neue Blickwinkel eröffnen. In einer entspannten und freundschaftlichen Atmosphäre können ÖsterreicherInnen und in Österreich lebende AfrikanerInnen einander kennen lernen. Die Einbindung von Jugendlichen während des Festivals wird weiter verstärkt, die Fußball-WM in Brasilien wird genutzt, um die afrikanischen Wurzeln in Südamerika und der Karibik näher zu beleuchten. Das Thema findet sich in der Musik, den Workshops, der Open Stage und am gesamten Festivalgelände wieder. Rund 5.000 BesucherInnen erwartet ein umfangreiches Programm für Kinder, Jugendliche und Erwachsene, sowie Diskussionsrunden und Publikumsgespräche. Ein Kernteam von 20 Ehrenamtlichen engagiert sich das ganze Jahr über für die professionelle Vor- und Nachbereitung des Festivals, 120 ehrenamtliche HelferInnen sind während des Festivals im Einsatz. Aufbauend auf den Erfahrungen und Erkenntnissen der vergangenen Jahre werden in einer Zukunftswerkstatt die Weichen für die Weiterentwicklung des Vorhabens gestellt.


Das Projekt wird aus OEZA-Mitteln in der Höhe von Euro 7.000,- (3,86% des Gesamtprojektvolumens) gefördert.
