Overall goal


Das österreichische Unternehmen Knowledge Management Associates GmbH (KMA) verfügt über langjährige Erfahrung im Wissensmanagement und berät darin Privatunternehmen, öffentliche Institutionen sowie internationale Organisationen. Ziel dieser Wirtschaftspartnerschaft ist es, gemeinsam mit der österreichischen Firma R&B Consulting GmbH und mit ugandischen und kenianischen Partnern in Kampala und in Nairobi je ein Kompetenzzentrum für Beratungsdienstleistungen im Wissensmanagement einzurichten.

 


Expected results


200 lokale Unternehmen aber auch öffentliche Einrichtungen und internationale Organisationen können durch das neu angebotene Know-how im Wissensmanagement ihre Produktivität und Wettbewerbsfähigkeit steigern. Sie werden damit an internationale Qualitätsstandards herangeführt, um sich leichter in internationale Wertschöpfungsketten, zum Beispiel im IT-Bereich, einzuklinken. 130 neue Jobs entstehen. 400 MitarbeiterInnen werden unmittelbar und 10.000 MitarbeiterInnen in weiterer Folge vom Projekt profitieren. Gleichzeitig wird versucht, mindestens 18 österreichische Unternehmen für den Eintritt in den ostafrikanischen Markt zu motivieren.

 


Target group / Beneficiaries


Zur Zielgruppe gehören 200 lokale Unternehmen, öffentliche Einrichtungen und deren MitarbeiterInnen. Durch die Zusammenarbeit mit der Uganda National Planning Authority, die eine nationale Agenda für Wissensmanagement im Rahmen des nationalen Entwicklungsplans vorbereitet, profitiert eine breite Öffentlichkeit von diesem Vorhaben. Das Projekt ist in die von den Vereinten Nationen anerkannte Initiative “Knowledge for Development Partnership” (K4DP) eingebunden.

 


Activities


Die Kompetenzzentren werden als eigenständige Unternehmen vor Ort aufgebaut. Das umfasst die Einrichtung der technischen Infrastruktur sowie die Qualifizierung von lokalen MitarbeiterInnen und Partnern im Wissensmanagement. Unentgeltlich angebotene Veranstaltungen und Workshops sensibilisieren ein breites Publikum aus Wirtschaft und Verwaltung für dieses Thema. Parallel dazu wird das Kerngeschäft, das Anbieten von Beratungsleistungen im Wissensmanagement, entwickelt.

 


Context


In Entwicklungsländern sind zunehmend wissensintensive Branchen vertreten. Von lokalen Unternehmen und Organisationen wird der Umgang mit individuellem und institutionellem Wissen zunehmend als kritischer Erfolgsfaktor wahrgenommen, der wichtig für die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit und für den Zugang zu internationalen Märkten ist.

  • Type of Aid – Aid modalities: classifies transfers from the donor to the first recipient of funds such as budget support, core contributions and pooled programmes and funds to CSOs and multilateral organisations, project-type interventions, experts and other technical assistance, scholarships and student costs in donor countries, debt relief, administrative costs and other in-donor expenditures.
  • Purpose/ sector code: classifies the specific area of the recipient’s economic or social structure, funded by a bilateral contribution.
  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries. Transactions are considered tied unless the donor has, at the time of the aid offer, clearly specified a range of countries eligible for procurement which meets the tests for “untied” aid.
