Overall goal


Das Österreichische Lateinamerika-Institut ist eine regionalspezifische Einrichtung, die vor über 40 Jahren gegründet wurde und sich als Kontaktstelle für alle interessierten Institutionen und Einzelpersonen und als Anlaufstelle für LateinamerikanerInnen versteht.


Dieses Projekt umfasst den Interdisziplinären Universitätslehrgang für höhere Lateinamerika-Studien (Teil A) sowie die Bibliothek des Lateinamerika-Instituts (LAI) (Teil B). Beide Vorhaben zählen zu den Kernprojekten.

Teil A: Der "Interdisziplinäre Lehrgang für höhere Lateinamerika-Studien" wird kooperativ mit der Universität Wien durchgeführt. Unter der Leitung von Univ.-Prof. Dr. Martina Kaller-Dietrich bietet der berufs- und studienbegleitende Lehrgang ein interinterdisziplinäres Panorama Lateinamerikas, welches von etwa 40 Personen im Ausmaß von 8 Wochenstunden pro Semester in Anspruch genommen wird. Ringvorlesungen, Fachseminare sowie Gastvortragende werden thematisch den Lehrgang ausfüllen.


Teil B: Mit einer jährlichen Bestandserweiterung von rund 300 Monographien und 200 Zeitschriften, steht die LAI Bibliothek an rund 100 regulären Öffnungstagen der Öffentlichkeit zur Verfügung. Umfassende Beratungstätigkeiten, Retrokatologisierung sowie eine rege Vernetzungstätigkeit komplettieren das Maßnahmenpaket neben der fortlaufenden Aktualisierung der LAI Website.


Das Projekt wird bei einem Gesamtprojektvolumen von EUR 184.490,00 in der Höhe von EUR 110.500,00 (59,89 %) gefördert.

  • Type of Aid – Aid modalities: classifies transfers from the donor to the first recipient of funds such as budget support, core contributions and pooled programmes and funds to CSOs and multilateral organisations, project-type interventions, experts and other technical assistance, scholarships and student costs in donor countries, debt relief, administrative costs and other in-donor expenditures.
  • Purpose/ sector code: classifies the specific area of the recipient’s economic or social structure, funded by a bilateral contribution.
  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries. Transactions are considered tied unless the donor has, at the time of the aid offer, clearly specified a range of countries eligible for procurement which meets the tests for “untied” aid.
