Overall goal


Österreich ermöglichte seit 1995 mit dem Austrian Scholarship Programme (ASP) benachteiligten Gruppen von Ugandern den Zugang zu verschiedenen Formen höherer Bildung. Gefördert wurden neben Stipendien für Ausbaustudien (post-graduate), kurzen Fortbildungen (short courses, insbesondere für Behinderte), Stipendien für Fernstudien sowie technischen Praktika - allesamt in Uganda - auch Doktoratsstipendien in Österreich. Insgesamt konnten fast 4.000 Uganderinnen und Ugander von diesem Programm profitieren, wobei der Frauenanteil bei rund 61% Prozent lag. Oberziel des Austrian Scholarship Programme war die Stärkung des Humankapitals durch Erhöhung der Zahl weiblicher und männlicher Spezialisten in Uganda.

Mit gegenständlichem Vorhaben soll den noch verbleibenden Studenten aus dem post-graduate- und dem Fernstudien-Programm in Uganda sowie aus dem Stipendienprogramm in Österreich der zeitgerechte und erfolgreiche Abschluss ihrer Ausbildung ermöglicht werden. Damit stellt gegenständliches Vorhaben eine Auslaufphase des Austrian Scholarship Programme dar, welches nach 2010 in dieser Form nicht mehr fortgesetzt werden wird.

  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries. Transactions are considered tied unless the donor has, at the time of the aid offer, clearly specified a range of countries eligible for procurement which meets the tests for “untied” aid.
