Overall goal


Die EU-kofinanzierte Kampagne soll dazu beitragen, Entwicklungsdefizite in den kakaoproduzierenden Ländern zu reduzieren, die Lebens- und Arbeitsbedingungen von Kakaobauern zu verbessern, Konzepte des Fairen Handels bekannter zu machen und zivilgesellschaftliche Positionen zu den Herausforderungen im Kakaosektor im Dialog mit Politik und Wirtschaft zu stärken. Dazu wurde eine gemeinsame Petition erarbeitet, die konkrete soziale und ökologische Standards von den Schokoladenunternehmen einfordert: (i) faire und angemessene Bezahlung; (ii) Einhaltung von Menschen- und Arbeitsrechten und Verbot von ausbeuterischer Kinderarbeit; (iii) Unterstützung für eine nachhaltige, diversifizierte und umweltschonende Landwirtschaft; und, (iv) ein unabhängiges Zertifizierungs- und Kontrollsystems.

Das breit angelegte Maßnahmenpaket umfasst: Informationsveranstaltungen in ganz Österreich (u.a. Podiumsdiskussionen, Infostände, Filmabende, Choco-Mobil-Tour, Wanderausstellungen, Speakers-Tour mit ExpertInnen aus Ghana und der Elfenbeinküste); diverse Informationsmaterialien (u.a. Factsheets, Sonderbeilagen, Flyer); kreative Straßenaktionen; Öffentlichkeitsarbeit; Durchführung von Workshops für AktivistInnen und MultiplikatorInnen, Vernetzung von NGOs und Lobbying. Allein in Österreich sollen 10.000 Unterschriften dafür gesammelt werden sowie über 120.000 junge Menschen im Alter von 18 bis 35 Jahre für das Anliegen sensibilisiert werden. Gemeinsam mit drei Organisationen in Deutschland, Tschechien und Estland implementiert Südwind (Lead) die Kampagne Make Chocolate Fair! in 16 EU-Ländern.


Das Projekt wird aus OEZA-Mitteln in der Höhe von Euro 54.700,- (4,39 % des Gesamtprojektvolumens) gefördert. Laufzeit: 3 Jahre (1.1.2013-31.12.2015)

  • Type of Aid – Aid modalities: classifies transfers from the donor to the first recipient of funds such as budget support, core contributions and pooled programmes and funds to CSOs and multilateral organisations, project-type interventions, experts and other technical assistance, scholarships and student costs in donor countries, debt relief, administrative costs and other in-donor expenditures.
  • Purpose/ sector code: classifies the specific area of the recipient’s economic or social structure, funded by a bilateral contribution.
  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries. Transactions are considered tied unless the donor has, at the time of the aid offer, clearly specified a range of countries eligible for procurement which meets the tests for “untied” aid.
