Sexueller Missbrauch von Kindern im Tourismus ist in Kenia ein weit verbreitetes Phänomen, das das Land in dem Bereich eine "führende" Rolle innerhalb Afrikas einnehmen lässt. Bislang reagiert die kenianische Tourismusindustrie mit wenig Bereitschaft, das Problem zu thematisieren. Aus der Erfahrung von respect in anderen Ländern ist diese Ablehnung neben der allgemeinen Tabuisierung vor allem auf das Unwissen zurückzuführen, wie dem Phänomen begegnet werden kann, welche Möglichkeiten die Tourismuswirtschaft dabei hat.


Das Projekt stellt eine komplexen Ansatz dar, dem Problem "Sexueller Missbrauch von Kindern im Tourismus" und der damit verbundenen AIDS-Problematik etwas entgegenzusetzen. Daher wird bewusst gleichzeitig an den Seiten der Betroffenen, wie der Mittler (Tourismuswirtschaft) und der potentiellen Täter/Verbündete (Reisende) angesetzt.

Als Grundlage der weiteren Arbeit werden Trainings- und Informationsmaterialien erstellt, die die verschiedenen Zielgruppen ansprechen bzw. den Erfolg des Capacity Buildings und die weitere Bearbeitung des Themas nach Projektende gewährleisten sollen. Anhand dieser Materialien wird das Thema in Schulen diskutiert, ebenso wie in Workshops für die Tourismuswirtschaft.


Der Code of Conduct (CC) zum Schutz der Kinder vor sexueller Ausbeutung ist ein Instrument der Tourismuswirtschaft, das von respect gemeinsam mit ECPAT-Organisationen (End Child Prostitution, Pornography and Trafficking) in mehreren Ländern in den letzten Jahren entwickelt und umgesetzt hat. Das vorliegende Projekt sieht sowohl die Umsetzung des CC durch österreichische Reiseveranstalter, die in Kenia operieren, vor (Information der Kunden, Training für Reiseleiter, u.a.) wie auch die Unterzeichnung und Umsetzung des CC durch die kenianische Tourismuswirtschaft.

  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries. Transactions are considered tied unless the donor has, at the time of the aid offer, clearly specified a range of countries eligible for procurement which meets the tests for “untied” aid.
