Overall goal


Das Jugendzentrum Don Bosco in der Stadt Managua bildet seit fast 50 Jahren jugendliche ArbeiterInnen aus und führt sie in das ökonomische und industrielle System des Landes ein. Seit sechs Jahren arbeiten die Salesianer daran, diese Institution umzustrukturieren, um den Veränderungen in der Welt und in Nicaragua besser zu entsprechen.


In dem im Juni 2002 abgeschlossenen Vorgängerprojekt "Wiedereingliederung von Jugendlichen in Nicaragua", EZA Nr. 1791-0606/99, wurden konkrete Erfolge in den Bereichen Stickerei, Druckerei, Informatik und Betriebsführung erzielt und dadurch solide Grundlagen für eine arbeitsmarktorientierte Ausbildung, Kleinfirmengründungen und damit eine nachhaltige Armutsbekämpfung geschaffen. Es entstanden acht Betriebskonzepte, Arbeitsplätze für mehr als 70 SchülerInnen wurden gefunden und eine Arbeitsvermittlungs-Datenbank wurde aufgebaut. Darüber hinaus bringen die Ergebnisse der Abteilungen Informatik und Stickerei erhebliche Einkommen, die dazu dienen, den Betrieb des Zentrums zu ermöglichen.


Die Erfolge des Vorgängerprojektes, aber auch die durch eine Evaluierung aufgezeigten Mängel sollen entsprechend den Evaluierungsempfehlungen nachhaltig verstärkt bzw. verbessert werden. Im gegenständlichen Folgeprojekt setzt das Centro Juvenil Don Bosco Managua nunmehr bewusst auf eine marktorientierte Ausbildung in Produktionseinheiten. Die Produktionsstärkung der erfolgreichen Abteilungen Stickerei und Informatik, die zugleich konkrete Hilfe für arme Jugendliche und ihre Familien sowie für Kleinbetriebe bzw. deren Neugründungen bedeutet, ermöglicht zugleich eine immer stärkere Eigenfinanzierung. Diese Maßnahmen leisten eine hervorragende, für alle Akteure nachhaltige Armutsbekämpfung.

  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries.
