Overall goal


Das Mukuru Slum in Nairobi ist mit über 400.000 EinwohnerInnen das zweitgrößte seiner Art in Kenia. Seit 1985 bietet der lokale Projektpartner, das Mukuru Promotion Center, soziale Dienstleistungen an. Der Fokus liegt hierbei auf Bildung für Kinder und Jugendliche. Das Center betreibt 4 Schulen, wobei zur Zeit ¾ der Gehälter der Lehrer von der Regierung bestritten werden. Mit dem Projekt sollen die Serviceleistungen des Mukuro Promotion Centers im Bereich Bildung, Basisgesundheit und Berufausbildung über die nächsten 4 Jahre ausgebaut und stabilisiert werden. Erstmalig geht HORIZONT3000 dabei ein Konsortium mit der slowakischen NRO eRko - Christian Children Communities Movement - ein, die auch 9,4% der Finanzierung übernimmt.


Oberziel: Das Projekt trägt zur Verbesserung der physischen, sozialen und ökonomischen Lebensbedingungen der BewohnerInnen des Mukuru Slums in Nairobi bei.

Projektziel: Ermächtigung ("Empowernment") von Kindern, Jugendlichen und Familien im Mukuru Slum, Nairobi


Zielgruppe: 5.500 Vorschul- und Volksschulkinder, 800 Eltern, 230 Strassenkinder, 1.120 gefährdete Jugendliche, 1.000 ehrenamtlich tätige GesundheitsarbeiterInnen, 160.000 PatientInnen, 100 Gemeindefunktionäre, 200 Angestellte des Mukuru Promotion Center.


Erwartete Resultate:

R1: 5.500 Kinder haben Zugang zu Grundschulbildung

R2: 800 Eltern und Familien (davon 75% Frauen) haben ihre ökonomische und soziale Position verbessert

R3: 230 Stassenkinder sind reintegriert

R4: 1.120 gefährdete Jugendlichen haben Zugang zu einer Berufsausbildung in Berufsschulen

R5: Die BewohnerInnen des Mukuru Slums haben Zugang zu präventiven und kurativen Gesundheitsleistungen

R6: Das Mukuru Promotion Center hat eine effiziente Organisationsstruktur und leistet in der nationalen Debatte über Verbesserung von Lebensbedingungen in Slums maßgebliche Beiträge
