Das Projekt zielt auf die Stärkung der Nahrungsmittel- und Ernährungssicherheit und den Kampf gegen Armut ab. Das Projektgebiet umfasst 34 Dörfer der Landgemeinde Komsilga in der Région du Centre von Burkina Faso. Dieses Gebiet zählt zu den peri-urbanen Gebieten des Landes, wo zwar der Vorteil eines besseren Marktzugangs durch die Nähe der Hauptstadt Ouagadougou gegeben ist, andererseits durch 'Land grabbing' und höhere Preise auch ein großer Druck auf die mehrheitlich extrem armen landwirtschaftlichen Haushalte in den ausgewählten Dörfern ausgeübt wird.

Spezifisches Ziel des Projektes ist es, die Einkommen aus landwirtschaftlicher Produktion nachhaltig zu verbessern und durch gezielte Maßnahmen der Mangel- und Unterernährung bei Kleinkindern vorzubeugen.

Im Mittelpunkt des Projekts steht der Gemüseanbau und die Kommerzialisierung von 'Nichtholzprodukten' (Früchte, Gewürze, Öle, Tierprodukte etc.), sowohl im Sinne ihrer nährstoffreichen Eigenschaften als auch in ihrer Eignung für den Verkauf und Schaffung von Einkommen. Diese Aktivitäten haben einen Mehrwert für den Umweltschutz, da sie der zunehmenden Abholzung in der Region entgegenwirken indem alternative Einkommensquellen (neben dem Verkauf von Holz) geschaffen sowie energieeffiziente Öfen eingeführt werden.

Vier Resultate sollen dabei erzielt werden:

1) Das Einkommen aus landwirtschaftlichen Aktivitäten soll substantiell und nachhaltig erhöht werden.

2) Die Kapazitäten von Kooperativen und anderen landwirtschaftlichen Zusammenschlüssen sollen nachhaltig gestärkt werden.

3) Der Umgang mit natürlichen Ressourcen und Energie soll effizient gestaltet werden.

4) Das Wissen über eine nährstoffreiche Zubereitung von Speisen soll gestärkt werden.

Mit den Projektmaßnahmen werden mindestens 400 Haushalte (ca. 2.800 Personen) direkt erreicht; indirekt profitieren geschätzte 87.000 Personen von dem Projekt.
