Nexus-Studie Burkina Faso
Short Description:
Overall goal
The current three years programme (2013-2015) of the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) emphasises the necessity to address water supply, energy, climate protection, forestry, agriculture and food security in an even more closely interlinked way. This so-called nexus requires a holistic and systemic approach in the framework of programming, concrete planning as well as policy dialogue. In this respect especially the interdependencies as well as possible trade-offs between different sectors and themes have to be kept in mind.
Burkina Faso is one of the countries, in which ADC is already applying an integrated approach in development cooperation, especially in the field of rural and regional development.
Consequently, the nexus case study in Burkina Faso will identify
• previous and current experiences in the framework of on-going interventions,
• the challenges and potentials for a nexus application in the respective national and sub-national context,
• existing drivers and barriers for nexus approaches, and
• possible entry points for a broader anchorage of nexus approaches.
The results of this study will allow more specific and practical guidance for further country programming and concrete planning of interventions as well as ADC strategy development in general.
