Overall goal


Das Erdbeben vom 8. Oktober 2005 sowie die darauffolgenden zahlreichen Nachbeben in NWFP, Punjab sowie Azad Jammu Kaschmir (AJK), das von zahlreichen massiven Murenabgängen begleitet wurde, hinterließ eine Spur der Verwüstung. Ganze Dörfer wurden zerstört oder dem Erdboden gleichgemacht. Schulen, medizinische Einrichtungen und die gesamte Verkehrs-Infrastruktur brachen zusammen.


In Battagram, einer Stadt in der Nord-West-Frontier-Provinz von Pakistan, wurde die von LICHT FÜR DIE WELT 1999 mit finanzieller Unterstützung der OEZA eingerichtete Augenklinik sowie das gesamte Distrikt-Spital völlig zerstört.


LICHT FÜR DIE WELT plant als Soforthilfe die Errichtung einer temporären Not-Klinik für die traumatisierte Bevölkerung und in Folge die Unterstützung des Wiederaufbaus des Distrikt Spitals.

Die Not-Klinik wird auch während der Wintermonate kontinuierliche ambulante Betreuung, allgemeinmedizinische und speziell orthopädische und ophthalmologische Operationen sowie psychosoziale Dienste anbieten und medizinische Mutter-Kind-Versorgung ermöglichen. Ebenso wird ein Service für Kinder und Erwachsene, die aufgrund schwerer Verletzungen Arme, Beine oder andere Gliedmaßen verloren haben, eingerichtet.
