Overall goal


Die Wirtschaftspartnerschaft fördert die Produktion und Vermarktung von hochwertigem Bio-Kaffee in Nicaragua und eröffnet kleinbäuerlichen Familien ein zusätzliches Einkommen durch den biologischen Anbau von Gewürzen, wie Kardamom, Ingwer, Kurkuma und Zitronengras.


Expected results


Das Unternehmen Sonnentor Kräuterhandels GmbH hat in einer vorangegangenen Wirtschaftspartnerschaft mit den Kooperativen COOMAPCOJ, COMPOW und der Firma Biosfair eine internationale Lieferkette etabliert und beabsichtigt nun, ab 2018 jährlich 120 Tonnen Bio-Kaffee und 20 Tonnen Bio-Gewürze aus Nicaragua abzunehmen.


Target group / Beneficiaries


Zielgruppe des Projekts sind 60 kleinbäuerliche Familien, also rund 300 Personen, aus der Region Jinotega im Nordwesten Nicaraguas. Der Verkauf von qualitativ hochwertigem Bio-Kaffee an Sonnentor bringt den BäuerInnen einen Preis, der mindestens 25% über dem Fairtrade Preis liegt. Für Kurkuma wird ein Hektarertrag von USD 800 erwartet. Die nicaraguanischen Partner COOMPACOJ, COMPOW und BIOSFAIR werden dabei unterstützt, Verarbeitungsschritte bis hin zu Qualitätskontrolle und Export zu übernehmen, wodurch 20 zusätzliche Arbeitsplätze geschaffen werden.


Activities


Zu den Projektmaßnahmen gehören neben Schulungen in biologischen Anbaumethoden, der Durchführung der Biozertifizierung, der Verjüngung des Pflanzenmaterials und der Herstellung von biologischem Dünger Trainings im Bereich Verwaltung, Vermarktung und Verkauf.


Context


Die Bergregion um Jinotega eignet sich bestens für den Anbau von hochwertigem Hochlandkaffee und Gewürzen. Der Mangel an Wissen über Anbau- und Verarbeitungstechniken sowie die schwach entwickelte Infrastruktur erschweren aber den meist kleinbäuerlichen Betrieben den Zugang zu nationalen oder internationalen Märkten.
