Overall goal


Die OEZA hat im Rahmen eines direkten Austauschs mit dem Sahel and West Africa Club (SWAC) beschlossen, auch 2008 einen jährlichen Beitrag zum SWAC zu leisten. Dieses in Paris angesiedelte Gremium ist bedeutend für den Austausch zwischen der OECD, seinen Mitgliedern und den Staaten und Organisationen Westafrikas. Der SWAC, der schon 1976 als "Club du Sahel" gegründet wurde, hat sich zu einem "Think Tank" für die großen Anliegen der Region entwickelt und sucht positive Antworten insbesondere auf die Frage "Wo und wie werden die ungefähr 430 Millionen WestafrikanerInnen im Jahr 2020 leben?" Der SWAC liefert relevante Analysen, spricht Politik, Wirtschaft und Zivilgesellschaft an und versucht fundierte theoretische Erkenntnisse an die Entscheidungsträger heranzutragen. Das Ziel des Clubs ist es, ein Facilitator, Moderator und Initiator eines offenen konstruktiven Austausches zu sein, d.h. eine Brückenfunktion zwischen westafrikanischen Akteuren und OECD Mitgliedern zu spielen. Die inhaltlichen Schwerpunkte überschneiden sich teils sehr stark mit OEZA Schwerpunkten in Westafrika und sind 1) Mittel- und langfristige Entwicklungsperspektiven, 2) Landwirtschaftliche Transformation und nachhaltige Entwicklung, 3) Lokale Entwicklung und regionale Integration und 4) Governance, Konfliktprävention, Frieden und Sicherheit.
