Overall goal


Die Österreichische Orient Gesellschaft Hammer-Purgstall (ÖOG/HP) versteht sich als Zentrum der Begegnung zwischen Österreich und dem Islamischen Orient. Als Plattform und Informationsvermittlungsstelle engagiert sich die ÖOG für die Stärkung der Orientkompetenz in Österreich. Im Rahmen der Orient-Akademie führt die ÖOG/HP Aktivitäten zum thematischen Schwerpunkt islamischer Orient in den Bereichen Information, Bildung, Wissenschaft und Kultur durch. Die Orient-Akademie möchte durch eine vertiefte Beschäftigung mit dem Islam und den islamischen Kulturen dazu beitragen, eine umfassende Sicht auf den Islamischen Orient in der Öffentlichkeit zu erreichen, Vorurteile abzubauen und den interkulturellen Dialog zu fördern. Weiters strebt die ÖOG den Aufbau eines Fachkräftepools in Österreich, für die Entwicklungszusammenarbeit mit dem Orient, in Kooperation mit einschlägigen Bildungseinrichtungen, Berufsgruppen und Meinungsbildungsmultiplikatoren an. Ziel- und Dialoggruppen sind die entwicklungspolitisch und am Islamischen Orient interessierte Öffentlichkeit sowie MedienvertreterInnen, WirtschaftsvertreterInnen, Schulen, Vereine und spezifische Institutionen. Das Projekt beinhaltet die Weiterführung von bewährten Maßnahmen wie Symposien und Fachseminaren, Lehrgang für akademische Orient-Studien, Einzelvorträge und Vortragsreihen, Arbeitskreise, Recherchen, ReferentInnenvermittlung, die Herausgabe einer periodischen Zeitschrift sowie allgemeine Informationsvermittlung zum Thema Islamischer Orient. Die Ländersymposien widmen sich 2010 den Schwerpunkten Algerien und Palästina.


Das Projekt wird in der Höhe von EUR 60.000,- (37%) bei einem Gesamtprojektvolumen von EUR 162.155,- gefördert.

  • Type of Aid – Aid modalities: classifies transfers from the donor to the first recipient of funds such as budget support, core contributions and pooled programmes and funds to CSOs and multilateral organisations, project-type interventions, experts and other technical assistance, scholarships and student costs in donor countries, debt relief, administrative costs and other in-donor expenditures.

  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries.
