Wiener Institut für Entwicklungsfragen, Südwind-Agentur und Lateinamerika-Institut, drei zentrale Akteure der entwicklungspolitischen Bildungs-, Kultur- und Informationsarbeit in Österreich, haben sich zusammengeschlossen, um anlässlich des Lateinamerika-Gipfels im Rahmen der österr. EU-Präsidentschaft 2006 gemeinsam konzipiertes Kultur-, Informations- und Bildungsfestival durchzuführen. Ziel dieses Projektes ist es, die sozialen Realitäten in Lateinamerika anhand von zeitgenössischem künstlerischen und wissenschaftlichem Schaffen sichtbar und erlebbar zu machen und den Informationsstand zu Lateinamerika in der österr. Bevölkerung zu erhöhen. Das Programm umfasst die Bereiche Musik&Darstellende Kunst, Bildende Kunst, Literatur, Bildungsarbeit, Wissenschaft und Film. Durch die langjährige Erfahrung der Projektträger können die verschiedenen Bereiche des Festivals kompetent betreut werden. Die Programmkonzeption basiert auf einem partizipativen Ansatz unter Einbeziehung aller wichtigen AkteurInnen, besonders auch aus den Bundesländern. Großes Augenmerk wird auch auf die Integration von in Österreich lebenden LateinamerikanerInnen sowohl bereits in der Projektkonzeption als auch in der Programmdurchführung gelegt.

Die Kommunikationsstrategie sieht einen gemeinsamen, konzentrierten Außenauftritt aller Akteure und eine gemeinsame Öffentlichkeitsarbeit vor, wodurch eine verstärkte Wahrnehmung der Veranstaltungen und Initiativen erwartet werden kann.

Die Zielgruppen für das vielfältige Festivalprogramm sind breit gestreut und korrelieren mit von den jeweiligen Projektmaßnahmen, insgesamt wendet sich das Festival an eine breite Öffentlichkeit.

Das Projekt wird bei einem Gesamtprojektvolumen von EUR 185.919,00 in der Höhe von

EUR 118.000,00 (63,47 %) gefördert.
