Overall goal


Astier Demarest ist ein französischer Hersteller ätherischer Öle, der seit mehreren Jahren auf die Kooperation mit Herstellern aus Entwicklungsländern spezialisiert ist. Die Firma hat sich insbesondere durch die hohe Qualität ihrer Produkte und die Etablierung langfristiger Beziehungen zu den lokalen Herstellern einen Namen gemacht.


Das Ziel ihrer Kooperation mit der ADA ist es, den europäischen Markt mit zertifizierten ätherischen Ölen aus Nepal zu erobern und zugleich die extreme Armut in Nepal zu reduzieren, d.h. Einkommensmöglichkeiten für über 1.000 nepalesische Beteiligte zu schaffen.


Alle in Nepal hergestellten Öle werden sowohl bio- als auch Fair Trade bzw. Fair Wild zertifiziert. Damit wird die nachhaltige Bewirtschaftung sicher gestellt, was der ADA-Strategie in der Region Himalaya/Hindukusch entspricht, die die Erhaltung der Biodiversität als Ziel festlegt. Für die zertifizierten Produkte werden höhere Preise erzielt, das Interesse an solchen Produkten ist in Europa sowohl in der Lebensmittel- als auch in der Kosmetikindustrie im Steigen begriffen.


Die beteiligten KräuterpflanzerInnen und –sammlerInnen werden umfassend geschult um technisches Know-How für das Destillieren und nachhaltige Kräuterwirtschaft zu erwerben. Trainings zu fairen Arbeitsbedingungen, HIV-Prävention und nachhaltigem Umgang mit Energie werden organisiert, um zu einer weiteren Verbesserung der Lebensbedingungen in der Region beizutragen.

  • Type of Aid – Aid modalities: classifies transfers from the donor to the first recipient of funds such as budget support, core contributions and pooled programmes and funds to CSOs and multilateral organisations, project-type interventions, experts and other technical assistance, scholarships and student costs in donor countries, debt relief, administrative costs and other in-donor expenditures.
  • Purpose/ sector code: classifies the specific area of the recipient’s economic or social structure, funded by a bilateral contribution.
  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries. Transactions are considered tied unless the donor has, at the time of the aid offer, clearly specified a range of countries eligible for procurement which meets the tests for “untied” aid.
