Peace Kicking Mission ist ein kultur- und entwicklungspolitisches Projekt anlässlich der Fußball-Europameisterschaft 2008. Es soll über den Fußball auf mediale und künstlerische Weise Aufmerksamkeit für ein politisch krisengezeichnetes Land, den Kosovo, schaffen.

Die name-it media corporation macht sich im Mai 2008 auf den Weg zu einer 'Peace Kicking Mission' in den Kosovo. Während einer dreiwöchigen Tour durch mehrere Städte und Orte im Kosovo organisieren Freizeitfußballer aus Österreich und Deutschland Fußballspiele mit der lokalen Bevölkerung, bei denen sprachliche, kulturelle oder religiöse Barrieren durch den Fußball überwunden werden sollen. Den Abschluss bildet ein finales Turnier in Pristina.

Der daraus entstehende 60-minütige Film soll auf die Lebenssituationen der Menschen in der Region Südosteuropas aufmerksam machen.

Die kosovarischen und serbischen Fußballer werden auch in ihrem persönlichen und sozialen Umfeld porträtiert. Hintergrundinformationen zur politischen, wirtschaftlichen und gesellschaftlichen Situation werden ebenfalls vermittelt.

Der Film wird während der EURO 2008 bei Public Viewing Veranstaltungen und in Kinos sowie im Rahmen der Wiener Festwochen gezeigt. Auch nach der Europameisterschaft sind weitere Kinovorführungen sowie Festivaleinreichungen geplant. Gespräche über eine mögliche Fernsehausstrahlung laufen.


Das Projekt wird aus OEZA-Mitteln in der Höhe von Euro 22.000,00 (42,20 % des Gesamtprojektvolumens in Höhe von EUR 52.133,00) gefördert.

  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries.
