Overall goal


Rund 40% der gesamten Fördersumme von 350.000 EUR kommen aus dem ADA-Budget für Humanitäre Maßnahmen, und rund 60% aus dem ADA-Budget für Minenaktionen.


This project aims to support children affected by the armed conflict in Georgia in August 2008.


The overall goal of the project is the psychosocial recovery and the reduction of the risk of injuries for children residing in IDP collective centres or state care institutions, returnee children and children living in communities affected by the conflict of displacement, as part of the wider "Back to School" campaign.


The main objectives are:

1. 40,000 children protected from the deterioration of psychosocial conditions by established early intervention mechanisms. Number of identified children in need supported in coping with the aftermath of the conflict and their displacement within the country.

2. Fulfilment of the Convention on the Rights of the Child's right to rest, leisure and recreational activities of 2,000 IDP, returnee and children affected by the conflict or displacement as a part of a wider psychosocial recovery process.

3. 40,000 children living nearby landmine/ERW contaminated areas aware of the risk caused by the existence of landmines and ERW.

4. Basic principles of case management, gatekeeping and networking methodology are being implemented by 500 local social welfare professionals.


The beneficiaries of the project are located in the areas affected directly by the recent conflict or by a high number of displaced populations: The Shida Kartli region and the cities of Gori and Tbilisi and surroundings.

  • Type of Aid – Aid modalities: classifies transfers from the donor to the first recipient of funds such as budget support, core contributions and pooled programmes and funds to CSOs and multilateral organisations, project-type interventions, experts and other technical assistance, scholarships and student costs in donor countries, debt relief, administrative costs and other in-donor expenditures.
  • Purpose/ sector code: classifies the specific area of the recipient’s economic or social structure, funded by a bilateral contribution.
  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries. Transactions are considered tied unless the donor has, at the time of the aid offer, clearly specified a range of countries eligible for procurement which meets the tests for “untied” aid.
